Mini Gastric Bypass
Mini Gastric Bypass is one of the easiest, shortest and most economical surgeries. It provides weight loss as much as other bypass surgeries. The most basic logic in surgery is to reduce the volume of the stomach. However, it is also bypassed in the intestine, which provides absorption at the exit of the stomach. Bypass is performed by connecting the anostose between the stomach and the small intestine. With the disabling of this intestine, which provides absorption, rapid weight loss, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes treatment and it has a positive effect in older patients. Mini Gastric Bypass is an operation performed by completely closed methods. Incisions are made under 1 centimeter. From these incisions, cameras and instruments necessary for surgery are placed in the abdomen. These tools are specially produced tools that can pass through holes. A small gastric tube is formed at the entrance of the stomach, separating it from the rest of the stomach. This stomach particle is the main stomach to be used after the surgery. In surgery, no organs are cut and taken out. This created stomach is connected to the small intestine and food is passed into the intestines. This procedure covers the second part of the surgery.
For Mini Gastric Bypass surgery, you must have a body mass index of at least 35 and above. The operation lasts between 30-60 minutes.
With Mini Gastric Bypass, weight can be lost in three different ways. the reduction of the volume of the stomach, the restriction of absorption and hormonal regulation. With the reduction of the stomach volume, which is the first way, food will shrink in your portions. In the restriction of absorption, which is the second way, the section up to 200 cm at the beginning of the small intestine is separated from the food passage. It is the task of this separately held section to carry bile and other fluids that provide digestion and absorption. Thanks to this absorption restriction, the amount of weight loss is high and the weight loss you achieve is maintained for a long time. The third way, hormonal regulation, has the effect of keeping the stomach passive inside. Since the food eaten will not be able to pass to this part, its effectiveness will disappear without warning. In this way, the secretion of ghrelinin, which is the hunger hormone, will be reduced.
Connecting the stomach and the small intestine is done with special staples they are specially produced tools suitable for the closed method. By gluing the stomach and intestines together, a gap is created to pass between them. This created cavity is called anastomosis.
You can stand up 4 hours after mini Gastric Bypass surgery and start feeding orally 24 hours after the operation. If you do not have any problems as a result of the follow-ups and examinations, you can be discharged with nutritional recommendations 3 days after the operation.
After mini Gastric Bypass, you should follow the eating plan prepared by your dietitian. In general, water, apple juice or juices can be given in a small way the day after the surgery. For the first month or so, liquid or semi-liquid foods, skimmed milk and yogurts, soups prepared with yogurt, fruit purees prepared with yogurt, mashed legumes and pot dishes, cereals prepared with skimmed milk and lean cheeses can be eaten. In addition, all foods containing chocolate, honey, cakes, sweets, syrup, ice cream, soda, alcoholic beverages and sugar should not be consumed as they will cause vomiting.
